The Grand County Red Devils hosted the Union Cougars tonight in the 2nd round of the 3A state tournament. The Red Devils started fast and never looked back beating the Cougars 82-42 securing a spot in the elite eight of the remaining tournament next week in Richfield.
The Devils Den was first honored with the singing of the National Anthem by Sam and Tanner Crane. Next the team was introduced as the 2020-21 Region XII Champions as Dr. Marable handed the trophy to Ryelan Jones. The team was super pumped to play the game and it showed immediately. The Red Devils defense stymied the Cougars blocking shot after shot. Offensively the Red Devils where unstoppable with timely 3-point buckets and an inside game that wowed the crowd.
It was a complete game and team effort for the Red Devils. After the game Coach Roberts had the team come on to the floor and invited all the fans to join dancing to the famous song “We Are Family”. Everyone had a great time and celebrating with the team.
The team now moves on to face San Juan in the quarterfinals Thursday February 25 at the SVC in Richfield. Tip off is 9:30am. All games will be streamed by www.local10.centracom.com
